As a first-generation Chinese immigrant to the US, Grace Sihan Lu has experienced the clash of two cultures, learning to co-exist and intermingle these diverse influences. Graduating in 2024 with a BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing from the Rhode Island School of Design, Sihan Lu's works resonate with themes of conflict and harmony. This duality in her work can be encapsulated by the notion of conflict and hurt resonating with the body. She endeavors to embrace the concept of opposing forces, aiming for a balance between contrasting extremities. She explores this relationship through her studio in China, LUUL, a platform for her creative pursuits that intertwines jewelry with life's profound moments. Her creations, while showcasing the tension and synergy between different elements, also reflect a personal narrative of adaptation, struggle, and eventual harmony.
